Creating harmony in our lives is every person’s desire, and with our ever increasing busy lifestyles, adding the pleasure of water at home can provide the dream lifestyle and that ultimate feeling of paradise! With so many options on offer, making the right choice can be a tricky decision.
Inspiration from the ‘Best of British’ pool and spa companies is on hand, as the winners of the 2016 British Pool & Hot Tub Awards have been revealed during SPATEX (the annual pool, spa and wellness trade show), a celebration of everything that is great about the wet leisure and wellness industry.
The 2016 British Pool & Hot Tub Awards hosted by The British and Irish Spa and Hot Tub Association (BISHTA) and the Swimming Pool and Allied Trades Association (SPATA), were rebranded in 2015, but the first SPATA awards were won in 1978, with the BISHTA awards first being won in 2008! These well-established awards are the UK’s number one wet leisure industry recognised accolades and bring the two UK industry trade associations together at a joint event, showcasing the wet leisure industry with the best examples of design, construction, installation and innovation.
Big winners of the night were Cresta Leisure, who won ‘The Dick Millward Trophy for Pool Contactor of the Year. Also celebrating were Hydropool UK, who picked up seven BISHTA awards and Tanby Pools who equalled that achievement by winning seven SPATA awards. Oyster Pools & Leisure also won eight awards across BISHTA and SPATA including the Peter Geekie Award for Retail Excellence. Aqua-Blue Designs and David Hallam submitted a joint entry and won the SPATA award for Pool of the Year.
Chris Hayes, Managing Director of both BISHTA and SPATA, says, “We congratulate all of the winners of this year’s. British Pool & Hot Tub Awards. BISHTA represents 111 specialist hot tub companies, and SPATA represents 173 Pool companies. We set a high standard for our judges from across both the pool and spa industry to score each entry on visual impression and technical merit. This means that an award won at the British Pool & Hot Tub Awards is very well deserved, and ownership of at least one award stands as a strong endorsement to consumers of the standard of work a winning company offers. Each year, the outstanding quality of submissions creates stiff competition.
The high quality of the entries provides a fantastic opportunity for showcasing what our members can do for their customers and reinforces why it is so important to choose a BISHTA or SPATA member to turn a dream into a winning project. The publicity generated from the awards evening helps to promote consumer awareness, to generate demand for products and services to kick start the new year. There is the added bonus that BISHTA and SPATA winners are also eligible to be entered into the EUSA European Pool and Spa Awards”.
The awards evening is held alongside SPATEX, the UK’s biggest Pool, Spa and Wellness Show, an event that sees companies from across the UK and overseas, gather to exhibit their finest products and services, along with promoting themselves and networking with colleagues. Each year the UK’s number one international swimming pool and spa exhibition, SPATEX provides a platform for all sectors of the wet leisure industry from pools, spas, saunas to hydrotherapy, steam rooms and children’s play equipment, in both the domestic and commercial arena. Primarily a trade Show, it also welcomes members of the public. As the longest established and leading event for the wet leisure sector, SPATEX provides a unique annual opportunity for you to come and meet the experts, all under one roof.
SPATEX is the UK’s largest and longest running dedicated swimming pool, spa and wellness exhibition, and the next show will be celebrating its 21st anniversary in the Jaguar Exhibition Hall, at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry from Tuesday 31st January to Thursday 2nd February 2017. Visit www.spatex.co.uk for more details.
Chris Hayes commented further, “This year the 20th show exceeded our expectations, having sold out much earlier than expected. Once again, this has led to the show expanding the size and in the third year of being in Coventry, this is an incredible achievement by the SPATEX team. The Ricoh Arena offers purpose-built facilities, which have given us the opportunity to make the show even bigger and better for our exhibitors and visitors and our plan is to continue with this expansion in the coming years.”
Whether or not you can get to SPATEX, if you are a pool or spa owner looking to refurbish or upgrade, a customer looking to buy a pool, spa or hot tub, a designer or company looking to find a specialist in the wet leisure industry, the UK wet leisure trade associations can provide advice and guidance to assist you. BISHTA and SPATA, have created and established the standards by which pools and spas should be built and hot tubs installed. Members also abide by a Code of Ethics.
